Chicken Philly Cheesesteak Bake
What You’ll Need
1½ lbs boneless, skinless chicken breasts (thinly sliced or chopped)
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 green bell pepper, sliced
1 red bell pepper, sliced
1 small yellow onion, thinly sliced
8 oz mushrooms, sliced (optional but recommended)
1 teaspoon garlic powder
½ teaspoon paprika
Salt + freshly cracked pepper
4–6 slices provolone cheese
How to Make
Preheat the oven to 400°F.
First, let’s make our filling.
Heat olive oil in a large oven-safe skillet over medium-high heat. Add chicken, season with garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper. Cook until just cooked through, ~5 mins. Remove chicken from the pan and set aside.
Now, sauté your veggies.
In the same skillet, add peppers, onion, and mushrooms. Cook until softened and slightly caramelized, ~5 mins.
Next, it’s time to bring it together.
Return chicken to the pan. Toss everything together. Adjust seasoning. Once fully tossed, lay provolone slices over the top.
Finish off in the oven.
Transfer skillet to the oven and bake for ~5 mins, until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
