The (Gin) Hepburn from Hubbard Inn
When I was in my twenties, I loved hosting my friends for the weekend in my downtown Chicago high rise. One of my best friends in the world is this gal named Sarah, who came to stay so often, we joked at the time that she was Cooper’s favorite auntie. Sarah and I always have the best time when we’re together, in our twenties that meant going out dancing, nowadays it’s playdates with our daughters.
When I think of the best nights ever, one night in particular comes to mind when we started our evening at The Hubbard Inn, having Hepburns, dancing, and mingling… and ended our evening having the time of our lives at Little Havana, pretending we could dance like Cuban women with liquid courage dispensed by the mojitos we were drinking straight from the pitcher.
While the Hepburns at the Hubbard Inn call for Effen Cucumber Vodka, I think they can also be done with Gin and be quite fabulous, and since I have no other gin cocktail recipes on my site, I figured why not share this one as a gin drink, with an optional vodka swap. Enjoy!
What You’ll Need
3 oz gin (optional swap for gin haters: Effen Cucumber Vodka)
1 oz St-Germain (elderflower liqueur)
1 oz fresh cucumber juice
1 oz fresh lemon juice
1 oz tonic water, to top
*** Optional garnish, cucumber, sliced the length of the cucumber.
How to Make
First, you’ll add gin, St-Germain, cucumber juice, and lemon juice to a shaker with ice, and shake until your arms hurt.
Then, line a fabulous glass of your choice with a freshly sliced cucumber.
Now, strain your gin cocktail into said glass, top with tonic water and gently stir.
Finally, cheers to a great day, great people, and a great cocktail.
