Looking Back

April was a welcomed month of grounding - both in the sense that I didn’t travel much and that we just felt like as a family we got to reset a little after a crazy Q1 where I returned to work, and we traveled quite a bit. Some highlights included: an incredibly fun easter egg hunt for Charlie over Easter weekend, playdates with Charlie’s bestie Ella, and Margaux’s future boyfriend, Beckham ;) (Ella’s little brother who is just 8 weeks younger than Margaux), a few birthday parties for the people we love, and last but not least, a night out for me - to go and see Emma Grede as she stopped through Chicago on her book tour for Start With Yourself. I felt so incredibly lucky to be in the room, especially with my dear friend Lauren, who I just adore and whom I don’t get to spend nearly enough time with these days.

Looking Ahead

As I look ahead into May, I’m craving more hours of sunlight, warm walks along the river with my girls and Ronnie, a lighter load at work with one of my team members returning from maternity leave, and the blessing of celebrating my first Mother’s Day as a mom of two. What a beautiful thing.

Favorite Discoveries of the Month

• In my ears:

  • This month was a lot of getting out of my head into into the present, as a result, I didn’t tune in to as many podcasts as usual, but I did fly through Emma Grede’s new book, Start With Yourself. I know this has been a polarizing one in the culture, but as someone who’s decidedly going to have a career and be a mom for the foreseeable future (by choice, by the way!) I really loved her real take on business, ambition, motherhood, and marriage.

• In my house:

  • Slumber by Cayla Gray! It smells so good and is a perfume specifically for night time. What I love about this is it’s the perfect end cap for a great everything shower kind of night, you know the kind that you take when you need to wash away the weight of the work day? This is it.
