Looking Back

With May in the rearview mirror, the things that are standing out to me most, are actually the littlest things from the month: Margaux finally falling in love with some foods (see proof below), a perfectly warm and sunny weekend for Mother’s Day over in New Buffalo, Michigan where we were able to host our families for a wonderful day of food and fun, a nice spring day by the river with two of my besties and some LouMalnati’s Pizza, our kids running around the yard like crazy people, and our husbands waist deep in the river installing our dock, so we could put our new boat in the water. One weekend morning when Ronnie woke up early and we grabbed the girls and went straight to the boat for a sunrise cruise on the river. Another weekend morning, after Charlie discovered her new favorite song, Thriller, and we danced like lunatics in our sunlit morning, teaching Charlie our favorite dance moves. One last weekend morning, when I got to wake up in the same house as my best friend, Tasha, and we got to go out to a long lingery brunch, and really connect - for the first time in a while! It’s months like these that make me so grateful to be alive.

How was your May?

Looking Ahead

As we head into June, the month ahead is going to be bitter and sweet.

The bitter — I am sadly spending two weekends saying final goodbyes to family members of mine who recently passed, my mom’s mom, Grandma Gen, who was truly a saint on earth and the sweetest woman, as well as my dad’s brother, Paul, who was disabled, and really struggled at the end, but whom overall lived a good life, and always had a way of making me laugh when he told me stories about life at his home, and when he said things that … well, most people would keep to themselves, hahaha! So that’s the bitter. Grief is a funny thing. I am looking forward to seeing family during this time, just not under these circumstances.

The sweet — I am so excited to celebrate my dear friend and the arrival of her sweet baby boy this month! Instead of having a baby shower, she’s having a sip and see, where we actually get to meet the little man! What fun! I’ve never been to one, but I really love the idea of getting to celebrate the baby’s arrival, and get to see mom and dad in their new habitat :) lol. We’re also celebrating a dear friend’s retirement this month, two other friend’s big milestone birthdays, and finally, we get to go see Nate Bargatze!!! Lots on the docket, I am sure the month will fly by… I think by the end of June Margaux will be walking, and that’s just stinking wild.

What are you looking forward to this month?

Favorite Discoveries of the Month

  • These 4am clean sheets is what I am giving to everyone right now. It’s basically a wash your face + do your 12 step serums in a single sheet product. Don’t miss it.

  • This has been the month of grilled veggies and chicken tacos - we love this grill basket and people are obsessing over my taco holders! They’re too cute.

  • Charlie is such a feind for ice cream and popsicles. After reading a book about Ultra Processed Foods, I can’t unhear some of the stuff about what goes into storebought ice cream, so we’re trying our hand at making some! I was delighted to find this KitchenAid ice cream maker attachment.

  • I bought my body weight in Johnny Pops. They’re 80 calories each and have flavors like dreamsicle, chocolate, birthday cake, sour. We can’t get enough!
