Sonia’s Fresas Con Crema

Leading Lady Spotlight: This recipe is inspired by Sonia, the woman who carried me through my first year of parenthood and, without question, Charlie’s favorite person on planet earth. We met at Charlie’s daycare while she was finishing her degree in early childhood education. After noticing their special bond, Sonia offered to babysit, and we gratefully said yes. Since then, nearly every Sunday has become “Sonia Day” in our house. She shows up with her Jeep and a heart full of joy, and the second Charlie hears it pull into the driveway, she squeals with delight, telling me all I need to know: the day ahead will be one filled with giggles, adventures, and the kind of love only Sonia can give. For me, Sundays with Sonia are nothing short of life-giving. She gives me the gift of time, time to write, run errands, cook, fold laundry, get my nails done, or simply breathe. But more than that, she gives Charlie the gift of friendship, and a second heart to belong to. I can’t imagine our family’s rhythm without her in it.

The only thing sweeter and more nourishing than these Fresas con Crema is Sonia herself. She is joy, safety, and love wrapped into one extraordinary human. So, when you make and enjoy this recipe, I recommend you share it with the people who hold you the way Sonia has held us, and make sure to tell them just how much their support means to you.

Serves: 4

What You’ll Need

  • 1 lb (16 oz) box of fresh strawberries

  • 4 tbs La Lechera sweetened condensed milk

  • 1/2 cup of Daisy Sour Cream

    • *** Pro-tip from Sonia: It doesn’t taste the same without Daisy sour cream.

How to Make

  • First, wash, cut, and dry your strawberries, cutting into fours, or however you prefer to have them cut/sliced.

  • In a medium bowl, add Lechera and sour cream, stirring together until combined completely.

  • Pour your crema mix atop your strawberries and add to fridge for a few hours before enjoying.

Enjoy!

p.s. there is nothing I love more than a handwritten recipe card, so naturally, I had to include the one that Sonia shared with me when she shared this recipe :)
