What You’ll Need

  • For your hot cocoa

    • 2 cups water

    • 1 cup cocoa powder

    • 1/2 cup sugar

    • 8 cups whole milk

    • 1/4 tsp cayenne

    • Pinch himalayan pink salt

    • 1 cup of chocolate, I like to use Tony’s Chocolonely Milk Chocolate with Caramel Sea Salt

  • For your whipped cream

    • 2 cups heavy cream

How to Make

  • First, let’s make our hot cocoa.

    • Combine water and cocoa powder in a large pot, whisking to blend. Bring to a boil, continuing to whisk.

    • Now, add milk, sugar, cayenne, and salt and bring to a simmer, then remove from heat.

    • Add chocolate and whisk to combine until the chocolate is melted.

  • Next, when ready to serve, in a medium bowl with a whisk (or hand mixer/stand mixer), whip the heavy cream until you have nice soft peaks.
(Pro-tip: the hand mixer or the stand mixer is definitely the way to go… I put it on high and let it go for about 3 mins until those peaks form)

  • Pour cocoa into your most festive glass, and top with a generous heaping load of whip.

Enjoy!
