August 2026
Month in review
August is Fall Eve in the midwest. I get so excited the second there is just a slight chill in the air in the mornings or in the evenings. The days are long and deliciously warm, the nights cool enough to want to make a fire, to need blankets when you sit outside. August is just about as perfect a month as there is.
For us, this August was filled with perfectly August plans - a trip to our favorite beach town, New Buffalo, Michigan to play in the water and to attend my parents’ Vintage Release Party at their vineyard. It also included a visit from my Sorority sisters and their daughters for a weekend of kitchen adventures (we made homemade pasta on a rainy afternoon), boating, and other playful shennanigans. Lastly, it included dinner parties, birthday parties, and my first Mahjong night with a few mom friends (I can see why the girls are loving this game so much). Most importantly, August brought on one of the most exciting developmental updates of all time: Margaux is walking!
It’s wild to think that next month my girls will be three (Charlize) and one (Margaux). Time goes so fast. Knowing that Margaux is our last baby means that bedtime snuggles come with a little more linger, and her feet get more squishes. Being a mom is truly the greatest gift. I can’t believe how lucky I am to be their mom.
As we prepare for actual fall, I am making sure the girls are ready with Halloween pajamas and cozy blankets. I’m busting out my embroidered Bears crewneck. I’m rummaging through my bins of cold weather clothes to find the right looks for fall frolicks. Most of all, I’m looking forward to another month filled with fun. We’ve got quintessential fall things in the works: a pumpkin patch visit, apples to pick from the trees behind our house, and of course… a birthday party for the girls! We’re doing a combined birthday party for the girls this year, the theme is “We’re going on a Bear Hunt” inspired by one of Charlie’s favorite songs. I’ve got a fun binocular-making craft planned, followed by an actual bear hunt… The payoff? At the end of it, each kiddo is going to get a little stuffed bear to bring home in their goodie bag! I am so stinking excited. Pray for good weather!
Favorites & Finds
Ever since my trip to Toronto last month, strawberry matchas have become a full blown personality trait. Since they cost about $8 to buy at Starbucks, I’ve been making them at home with Mud Wtr’s Strawberry Matcha Limited Edition pack and it’s honestly just as good, and probably half the calories. I am also loving the Stok Light Roast coffee right now for my midday pick me up.
Ronnie and I love a taco night and so does Charlie, after running out of hot sauce last month, this month I grabbed a new one for us to try and holy crapola this Tia Lupita Hot Sauce is out of this world good. If you’re a sucker for Taco Bell hot sauce, you’ll love this. We also fell in love with the Jeni’s Churro Bars as the perfect way to round out taco night.
I work in the CPG industry and recently was gifted Saltair roll on deodorant which I am absolutely loving. I will 100p be replenishing this the second it is gone.
Ronnie has been loving these Midday Squares treats the last few months.
Our girls and my husband have really sensitive skin, so we have to be super cognizant of what goes on their bodies, especially during summer. This Doo’s Naturals Lavender Tallow Lotion is Margaux’s classic scent, it is easy on her eczema. This Back the Bug Off mosquito spray is the only one we have used for like the last 10 years. And this Magnolia Soap Co detergent is what washes all of our clothes clean.
Having guests stay is so fun, because you get an idea of what they’re obsessing over in your house. My guests raved about our Casa Luna Bamboo Sheets from Target, the Cayla Gray Slumber Scent I sprayed on their beds ahead of their arrival, and the Saltair Personal Care goodies I left out for them to enjoy. I also gifted each kiddo a copy of The Memories We Keep and then got the sweetest notes about how their “favorite person to make memories with is Charlie” heart melting!
How could I forget!!!! Le Labo runs it’s City Exclusives event during August, so I grabbed the following: Cedrat, Shiu, Tabac, Gaiac, Osthmansus, Coriandre, Benjoin, and Tuberuse to try! I am sooo excited to work my way through them with Ronnie!
Core memories from august on my family archie
When I was nesting before having Charlie I realized I’d lost our wedding video, determined to never lose a core memory again, I built our family a custom website to keep our core memories. A friend of mine stumbled upon a blog post of mine where I was talking about this, and we joined forces to create the ultimate memory-keeping app for moms, Archie , which helps families keep their core memories safe in a beautiful, worthy, digital home. You can try it for free here. This is what my monthly Archie update looks like for August. I share these newsletters privately with my mom, dad, and grandma with one click. Ronnie adds to it directly when he captures something worth of an August Days core memory as a second user on our account. Jaclyn and I built the app we wish we had.
